The Doctor had been in Pete’s World for a little over 3 months. He’d applied for a job with Torchwood as soon as he’d settled and the company had eagerly taken him on. Despite his relative age (no, not 3 months: 947 years), Pete had insisted that he start with training and work his way upwards. The Doctor was all for equal treatment, so he’d grudgingly agreed.
Of course, when he’d acquiesced, he’d had no idea that he would be put on reconnaissance for such an… alluring mission.

-They were in Ferriday Louisiana in the 1950’s. Of course he’d been aiming for Hawaii 3004… But Rose hadn’t minded. She was already beautifully dressed in a sweet little number that set his teeth on edge. Her long, creamy arms were clad in white gloves and her hair done up in a perfect coif.
They stepped out of the TARDIS and the first thing he noticed was how humid it was. Then he looked around and saw that they were in a small town. Rose had tugged his hand and he’d followed after her, his eyes glued to her hips as they swayed and her calves as her heels made them look even tighter. They rounded a few corners; Rose was walking aimlessly.
A few men stood outside a bar smoking thick cigars, conversing in southern American accents. They stopped speaking as soon as they saw Rose and shared significant glances amongst each other. There was the raucous sound of someone abusing a piano and Rose looked at him, eyes wide. She then turned back to the frozen locals, smiling brightly, her tongue caught in her teeth.
“’ello, boys. Wha’s going on in there?”

“Here we are, Rose!” The Doctor bounces around the console to look at the screen. He frowns when he notices that there is no name listed for the planet they landed on. That was strange… But no matter; odder things have happened than a nameless location.
“And where is ‘here’?” Rose pulls on her beanie and joins him in front of the door.
“It has no name! It’s called ‘the Unknown Planet’!” The Doctor frowned then, “that seems a bit redundant because I guess that’s its name now… No matter.” With that, he pushes open the door and reveals a dark, smoky sky and a ground dented with multiple crater-like impact marks. The Doctor frowns again, getting an odd vibe from the air. He sticks his tongue out and ignores the amused smile Rose gives him. “Tastes like…” He smacks his lips, “dust and antimatter particles.” Rose cocks an eyebrow but doesn’t question him. She knows better than to even bother asking how he found that out from sticking his tongue out like a child.
“Well that’s great.” She paused. “What does that mean?”
The Doctor reached for her hand and grinned, the two of them beginning their journey forward.
“It means that things are about to get interesting.” He tugged her onward and she followed willingly.
